About Victoria Day: Victoria day is one of the National Holiday to celebrate the Canadian sovereign’s official birthday and is one of the recognized holidays. The holiday is celebrated on the last Monday preceding May 25 and is between 18th to 24th which makes the penultimate Monday of May. It is celebrated in Canada since 1845 and can be said to be informally considered beginning of the summer season in Canada. The Victoria day is a provincial legislation which is officially considered as National patriot’s Day and is also the official Birthday of the British Queen who was born on May 24, 1819.

The reigning Monarch who was the Queen for 63 Years, Seven Months and Two days was more honored Queen and thus a Holiday is declared a Canadian Holiday by the Government in 1845. A holiday which is just a day off for the general population and with all the schools and offices including the businesses gets closed it is a celebration in all the 10 provinces and territories where it is a day off. The fireworks which gets displayed along with the parades which are held to mark the Victoria Day is said to be the most notable parade said to be held in the city of Victoria, British Columbia and as many as people gather to enjoy the fireworks displays which helps the people to enjoy in Hamilton and Toronto.

Victoria Day Celebration: Queen Victoria was the most celebrated of the Queens as during her reign the powers of the United Kingdom and the British Empire extended considerably but the power of the Queens of the United Kingdom got reduced as the House of Commons has become more powerful in British Politics. Still the Monarch’s Birthday is celebrated with much fanfare in Canada and with the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign it become the most celebrated of the Official holiday. Even after her death the May 25 become the official Empire’s day and further it was known as Victoria Day which has become the Canadian statutory holiday.

The main objective behind this celebration is to remember the ruler and celebration is done with picnics, parades along with sporting tournaments and fireworks throughout the Canadian Union. Since, it was declared that the Monday will be considered as the official holiday so most of the time the day of May 24th is given the consideration for celebration or else the Monday immediately before it is given the day to enjoy this public holiday. On the other hand Quebec has its own holiday which is known as Journee Nationale Des Patriotes and has replaced a holiday which was earlier known as Fete De Dollard in 2003 as this festival has replaced Victoria Day in 1918 along with the celebration being of the same scale. The Canada is the only country out of the commonwealth nations which is known to be celebrating the Queen’s Birthday and on Victoria Day the Royal Union Flag is hoisted on all public buildings and military bases including airport since sunrise to sunset.
