About Tourtiere: Tourtiere Food is one of the basic but very popular food in Canada and is a Canadian Meat pie dish which originated at Quebec province. Ingredients to make Tourtiere:

. 1 Pound Lean Ground Pork

. 1/2 Pound Lean Ground Beef

. 1 sliced and chopped Onion

. 1 Clove garlic Minced

. 1/2 Cup water

. 1.1/2 Teaspoons salt

. 1/2 Teaspoons Dried Thyme Crushed

. 1/4 Teaspoon Ground sage

. 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper

. 1/8 Teaspoon Ground Cloves

. 1 Recipe Pastry for a 9 Inch Double Crust Pie

. The preparation time takes almost 40 minutes and to make all the Tourtiere together it takes almost 2 hours. So, one has to prepare well in advance for the food.

. Get a saucepan, mix all the ingredients such as pork, beef, onion, garlic, water, salt, thyme, sage, black pepper and the cloves. There is a need to Cook over medium heat until all the mixture boils and in the mean time stirring has to be done continuously. Reduce the heat to low point and get the meat cooked for 5 minutes. Once the meat gets simmer there is a need to get the preparation cool at room temperature.

. The oven has to be preheated to 425 degrees F or 220 Degrees Celsius.

. The meat crust need to be put into the pie crust which has been prepared well in advance. The top crust of the pie needs to be covered and the pinch edges are sealed together by folding it. The slits are cut so that the steam can escape. Also, cover the edges of the pie with strips of the aluminium foil.

. The pie are kept in the preheated oven and then remove foil with baking it for an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until it gets golden brown. Let the pie get cooled 10 minutes before slicing.
